My name is Emily Coombs, and I am currently completing my Master’s in Counseling Psychology at the University of Calgary. I’m part of an LGBTQ+ & Autism affirmative research Lab — the Double Rainbow Lab.
I am recruiting for my thesis study: The Double Rainbow Perspective, A Qualitative Narrative of the Intersectional Experiences of Autistic Women and Femme Individuals who are a part of the LGBTQ+ Communities. (REB22-1565)
Purpose of the Study. The purpose of this study is to explore the lived experience of those who are autistic, women/femme and are a part of the LGBTQ+ communities. We intend to focus on participants' experiences with well-being and intersectionality. The attached survey component will allow us to gather demographic data as it is a common criticism of researchers studying autism that we do not capture diverse samples in our studies. To help us recruit a diverse selection of participants, we ask that you describe yourself and salient identities to your comfort level.
To Participate: You must be autistic (formal diagnosis not necessary), LGBTQ identified, over 18, and identify as either woman or a femme person. Participation is online and can be done at home. Also, you must not have a legal guardian who would consent to your participation.
