Romantic relationships and internalizing disorders in adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Research Study

This research project will propose a study that explores romantic relationships among adults with ASD, the severity of ASD symptoms and internalizing disorders focusing on depression and anxiety. It’s predicted that in adults with ASD, internalizing disorders; depression, and anxiety will be higher than a control group of typically developing adults. Higher levels of depression and anxiety will be associated with adults on the higher end of ASD scale. Adults on the higher end of the ASD scale will have trouble developing, maintaining, and understanding romantic relationships compared to typically developing adults. Lastly, for adults with ASD and typically developing adults, having a romantic relationship will be associated with less depression and anxiety.
