This research is looking at whether reported autistic traits are correlated with romantic relationship attachment and emotional well-being (e.g., depression, anxiety) and whether this may differ by level of emotional intelligence, i.e. if emotional intelligence may act as a buffer for negative experiences. We are further interested in whether autistic traits as well as emotional well-being may result in or be mitigated by camouflaging strategies (i.e., masking of autistic traits). Autistic traits can be present without an actual diagnosis of autism, and we are further interested in whether similar correlations can be found by level of autistic traits rather than by autism diagnosis itself.
