My name is Jessica Hinman, and I am a doctoral student at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). I am currently conducting a research project focusing on promoting sexuality empowerment among neurodivergent young adults. The purpose of this research study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a mindfulness-based sexuality education and empowerment group workshop developed for neurodivergent young adults.
The workshops will run May 11th through June 15th.
If you choose to participate, you will be asked to attend two, 2.5-hour, remote, group workshops and complete a series of self-report questionnaires to help us evaluate the effectiveness of the group sessions on three different occasions. You will be asked to complete the self-report questionnaires before and after the first workshop and again after the second workshop.
The topics that will be discussed during the workshops will include:
• Gender identity and expression
• Relationships
• Consent and safe touch
• Personal values and identity
• Communication within a relationship
• Sexuality
The group sessions will be 2.5-hours long and will take place once a week for two consecutive weeks. Groups will consist of 10-12 participants and sessions will take place on zoom on weekday evenings. Participating in this research opportunity is free of charge. Sessions will not be audio or video recorded.
