The purpose of this qualitative exploratory case study is to understand the social and emotional skills that students with ASD require to be successful in post-secondary education. This preparation is accomplished by exploring the perceptions of post-secondary teachers about the social and emotional skills of graduated high school students with ASD who are attending a post-secondary school. As well as exploring the type of social skills and emotional skills students with ASD perceived to need to succeed to attend a post-secondary school through surveys with students with ASD. The survey data will be triangulated with sample IEPs from government, educational, and public high schools’ websites available in the public domain to identify how students with ASD may have been prepared to transition into post-secondary education. Reflexivity, credibility, dependability, confirmability, and transferability will be maintained and specially delineated in chapter three to mitigate potential bias.
