PREDICTORS OF STRESS FOR PARENTAL CAREGIVERS OF EMERGING ADULTS WITH NEURODEVELOPMENTAL DISORDERS: DEMOGRAPHICS, UNMET NEEDS, COPING, AND LIFE CHANGES

Research Study

The reason for my communication is to request support to collect data of high integrity. Two studies will be conducted to increase scientific knowledge about parental caregivers of emerging adults (ages 18- 26) impacted by autism or intellectual disabilities. The study Predictors of Stress for Pranetal Caregivers of Emerging Adults (Ages 18-26) with Neurodevelopmental Disorders: Demographics, Unmet Needs, Coping and Life Changes is for a dissertation. The aim of this research is to examine the associations between parent demographics, unmet needs, proactive coping, life changes, and perceived stress. The independent variables, including demographics, unmet needs, proactive coping, and life changes, and the dependent variable (perceived stress) will be evaluated to determine if there is an association between sets of ordered pairs.

The aim of the second study, which is federally funded, is to determine the predictors of parental caregivers' ability to foster emerging adults' success in a Social Security work incentive program called the Plan to Achieve Self Support (PASS). This research will evaluate the connection among parental variables, including demographics, unmet needs, proactive coping, perceived stress, and associations with emerging adults' employment and income status. The name of this second study is Improving Utilization of the Plan to Achieve Self Support (PASS) among Emerging Adults with Neurodevelopmental Disorders.

I look forward to collaborating with your organization, and any support would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you. My telephone number is 305-915-0818
