Parental Teaching of Perspective-Taking and Theory of Mind in Children of Color with Autism

Research Study

The Harris Parent-Child Interaction Lab is conducting a study on parental teaching of perspective-taking and theory of mind ability in children of color with autism. The researcher would like to recruit African American, Asian American, or Latino parents and their child with a verifiable diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. The child must be verbal and capable of following remote instructions with a stranger and have no other developmental disorder diagnoses. The researcher will give one of the parents an interview regarding how perspective-taking is taught in their house, and the child will engage in false belief tasks that test the child’s perspective-taking ability.
