Language Use on Social Media in Young Adults With and Without Autism

Research Study

*IRB APPROVED

Hi all, my name is Hannah O’Connor and I am a senior Cognitive and Behavioral Science major at Washington and Lee University. This semester, as part of my senior capstone, I am conducting a research project investigating language use on social media for adolescents with and without autism.
As part of my project, I need 40 participants with autism and 40 participants without between the ages of 18-29 years old. All I need from the participants is a signed consent form and temporary access to their Facebook and Instagram accounts. I will be creating text samples from their posts and comments to use with a language analysis software. The text samples will be kept anonymous with participant IDs assigned to each one rather than real names. After the completion of the study, access to social media profiles will be removed and the text samples will be deleted.
If you are interested in participating or know someone who would be, please reach out to me at oconnorh22@mail.wlu.edu or 630-544-7311. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to me as well.
I would really appreciate any help and please share this information so I can try to reach as many people as possible!
