Improving employment Outcomes for Young Adults on the Autism Spectrum

Research Study

Hello, my name is Bari Eisenhauer and I am a doctoral student in the School of
Communication Disorders and Deafness at Kean University. I am conducting a study to
explore the relationship between social skills and vocational programming in high school
and employment after graduation for young adults with an autism diagnosis. I am
inviting young adults with an autism diagnosis, which includes Asperger’s Syndrome
and PDD-NOS, or their parent/caregiver to complete this survey. To participate you
must be over 18 years old, have graduated high school within the last 4 years (Class of
2017-2020), and be a U.S. resident.

The survey includes questions about your demographic background and educational
experience, with a focus on social skills programs and vocational skills training, as well
as transition services. You will also be asked about your current and past work history.
Lastly, you will be asked to share your opinions on both your training and readiness for
employment as well as your current job.
Your participation in this study is voluntary. If you decide to participate, your responses
will be anonymous – that is, recorded without any identifying information that is linked to
you. If you have any questions regarding this survey, please contact me at
oppenheb@kean.edu or my faculty advisor, Dr. Mahchid Namazi, at
mnamazi@kean.edu.
