Description:

Past research has suggested that individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) may be at increased risk for gender-related concerns, including gender dysphoria. Our study, which has been reviewed and approved by our Institutional Review Board, aims to examine gender identity development in youth with ASD, as well as its impact on social relationships. To do so, we have developed an anonymous, confidential questionnaire for parents of children ages 6 – 25 years who have been diagnosed with ASD. Responses to this short, anonymous questionnaire will be instrumental in better understanding gender identity development in youth with ASD and assisting families that have a child with ASD and gender-related concerns. We thank you in advance for taking part in our study and forwarding this questionnaire to all parents of children with ASD ages 6 – 25 years.
