Westwood, MA – Parents of Young Adults SG Series
January 8 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm, $120
1st Tuesday of each month – Support Group Series for Parents of Young Adults
This parent of adult support group series is designed for parents of adult children, who have completed high school and who are 19-26 years old. Through this support group series, parents can build an ongoing connection with a small community of other parents. AANE parent of adult support groups also give parents an opportunity to voice their concerns and frustrations. It also lets them acknowledge hard-won and unexpected victories.
Moderator: The group will be moderated by Marcia Tritter, MA, LCSW, AANE LifeMap Coach and Support Group Facilitator. Marcia worked with Special Needs clients for over 30 years in a variety of settings. She successfully ran programs for children, teenagers, young adults and their families, focusing on emotional disturbance. She was a psychotherapist for individuals and couples. Marcia has a long standing interest in clients on the autism spectrum, including her current emphasis on LifeMap coaching for young adults with Asperger’s. Marcia served on the Department of Education’s State Advisory Commission for Special Needs Children, the board of an agency with group homes, and MFA’s Access Board. Marcia worked as an Educational Advocate since 1984 navigating Special Education systems. Contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
All meetings will be held at The Arc of South Norfolk in Westwood, MA. We will meet monthly for 8 months on the first Tuesday of each month from 6:30-8:00 p.m.
Common topics of discussion are:
- Now that your child is an adult, how do you parent without power?
- How do you keep the lines of communication open?
- How can you help your child find and sustain employment or live independently?
- How to get your adult child expand his or her social network?
- What local providers, programs, and services have other parents used and what were the results?
- How have other parents tapped into health, income, housing and other benefits?
