New Virtual Bad Movie Night: Plan 9 from Outer Space!

March 26 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm, Free

For now, we can’t bring you to AANE Pizza & Game Night, but we can bring AANE Bad Movie Night to you! If you are an adult with an Asperger profile and you’re developing a case of cabin fever, join us for an evening of “so bad it’s good” cinema, with Plan 9 from Outer Space!

This terrible film is considered by The Golden Turkey Awards to be the worst film ever made! What makes watching such a bad movie worthwhile? Why, the funny voice-over commentary provided by RiffTrax! Never heard of them? Sure, you have! RiffTrax is produced by the stars of the Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning Mystery Science Theater 3000 (a.k.a. MST3K)!

We will be hosting this as a Zoom meeting, which will allow you to view the webcam video (and eye-rolling reactions) of other participants! We will have all microphones muted, however, as you watch, you can join the RiffTrax hosts in mocking this “film”, in our Zoom text chat! This event promises to be an epicly bad (and positively comedic) cinematic community experience!

This event is free, but you must pre-register to get the link to the watch party!

Please pre-register by Thursday, March 26 at 12:00 noon

If you are unable to register online, please call and leave a voicemail with Stephanie Birkdale, at 617-393-3824 x32. Please include your name, phone number, city you live in, and (if possible) your email address.

About this event:

We will be running this event as a Zoom meeting. Zoom is an online video meeting platform. The movie will be shared by the main presenter (within Zoom), and the film will be audible and visible through Zoom. We will have all microphones muted for everyone’s comfort. However, you can choose to turn on your video if you prefer, so you can visually interact with other AANE moviegoers!

What you need:

1. A computer or tablet. (You can use a mobile phone, but it won’t be quite as good.)
2. An Internet connection
3. The Zoom software (free download)
– The “Zoom Client for Meetings” is best for most users
– If you cannot use the Zoom Client, there are also Zoom mobile apps, and Zoom browser extensions.
4. A webcam – video participation is optional
– Note: Our microphones will be muted, so we can all hear the show

Once you register, we will email you a link to the watch party. If you don’t get the email within 2 hours, please email Stephanie Birkdale at stephanie.birkdale@aane.org

Tips for using Zoom
