FILLED – Online “Open” Community Connections for Parents Adults (age 23+) who are Seeking a Diagnosis or are Newly Diagnosed, 9/16/20, 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM EDT
September 16 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Free
Parenting in the time of COVID-19 is especially difficult due to restrictions on normal activity and interaction. Our online video conferencing sessions for parents of adults over the age of 23 are a free, simple, casual way for you to talk with other parents of adults on the spectrum, to reassure yourself that you are not alone no matter how socially distant you feel!
This special community connections session is intended for parents, adult family members, or close friends of an adult age 23 or older who may be on the spectrum or who have recently been diagnosed with autism/Aspergers. Join AANE Co-Directors of Adults Services, Michele Cantara and Nancy Schwartz, on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 7-8 PM US EDT for a special community connections session that will:
- Introduce you to other parents and family members who are looking to understand how Aspergers/Autism may affect their adult child or family member
- Share insights on how to cope with a recent diagnosis or explore how to bring up the subject of getting a diagnosis with your family member
- Learn about the ways AANE can help you and your adult family member on their Aspergers/Autism journey.
Although these online community connection sessions are free, registration is required, so that we can email you the link to join the session. Sessions are hosted on the Zoom platform. Note that we close registration once 30 people have registered. These video sessions are in high-demand, so if you register, please respect those who haven’t been able to sign up—by attending the session.
Registration is at capacity. This event is full.
Take note of time zone differences. This session takes place in the US Eastern (Boston/New York) time zone on Wednesday evening September 16, 2020 from 7-8 PM EDT.
Community Connections are a great way reduce your isolation and to try out AANE to see if you like us, but sessions are not a substitute for AANE Closed Support Groups for Parents of Adults over 23 or Open Support Groups for Parents of Adults. If you are looking for longer-term support investigate these support group options.
