Online LOCAL Boston, MA “Open” AANE Book Club for Adults, 8/31/21, 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM ET

DESCRIPTION: AANE, in partnership with the Boston Public Library, has created a book discussion group for adults with an Asperger/autism or related profile. The group meets every month to discuss a specific book (fiction or nonfiction). Post-high school adults on the spectrum are welcome to attend the meetings, whether or not they have finished the book selected for the meeting. Books for the currently planned meetings are:
- August 31: Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis by J.D. Vance *Please note that this will be the last meeting for this group. There is an additional open book club that meets on the second Tuesday of the month that anyone is welcome to join,*

WHERE: Online via Zoom
HOSTS: Stephanie Birkdale and Katie Devine
REGISTRATION: Advanced registration is required. After you have registered, a confirmation email is sent with a link to attend the program. Registrants who do not receive the confirmation email should check their email spam folder. Registration closes 24 hours prior to the event. Early registration is highly recommended as many programs fill quickly.
AUDIENCE: AANE Adult Support Groups, Social Groups, and events are intended for post-high school adults on the spectrum who are able to self-regulate AND independently participate in activities without the assistance of a dedicated caretaker.
EVENT & GROUP INFORMATION: All AANE programming is currently online. The following terms are used for different audience specifications:
- “LOCAL [City, State]” in front of the event/group name is intended for those living in the vicinity of the indicated area. If LOCAL is not indicated, the event is available to those living anywhere.
- “Open” events/groups may have different participants joining from session to session and “Closed” events/groups have the same participants for a set number of sessions.
CODES OF CONDUCT: Participants at AANE events are expected to act respectfully toward other participants and group facilitators. AANE reserves the right to deny admission to and/or ask individual participants to leave an event. For more information see FAQS.
