3rd Wednesday of each month – Support Group Series for Parents of Young Adults
This parent of adult support group series is designed for parents of adult children, who have completed high school and who are 19-26 years old. Through this support group series, parents can build an ongoing connection with a small community of other parents. AANE parent of adult support groups also give parents an opportunity to voice their concerns and frustrations. It also lets them acknowledge hard-won and unexpected victories.
Moderator: The group will be moderated by Jennifer DeSanctis-Narby. Jennifer is an AANE LifeMap coach and she also facilitates several New Hampshire in-person AANE Parent of Adult Support groups as well as the Chelmsford, MA support group. Jennifer also leads both AANE PoA online groups. Jennifer’s motto is “What else can go right?” Coaching LifeMap clients and leading parent groups is her passion. By helping them shift their perspective to what can go right, she is able to help them make significant positive changes in their lives. Jennifer says, “ I’m constantly amazed by parents’ commitment to their adult child’s future, but I also recognize that this commitment can be all-consuming and draining.” Contact: jennifer.desanctisnarby@gmail. com
All meetings will be held at Christ Church in Exeter, NH. We will meet monthly for 8 months on the third Wednesday of each month from 6:30-8:00 p.m (with the following exception*).
Common topics of discussion are:
- Now that your child is an adult, how do you parent without power?
- How do you keep the lines of communication open?
- How can you help your child find and sustain employment or live independently?
- How to get your adult child expand his or her social network?
- What local providers, programs, and services have other parents used and what were the results?
- How have other parents tapped into health, income, housing and other benefits?
Registration closes January 2, 2019
