DESCRIPTION: Today, AANE is more inclusive, accessible, and in demand than ever before. Join us for a brief report from Executive Director Brenda Dater about the incredible growth and change that has defined this year.

Then, enjoy Dr. Meredith Maroney, PhD, in conversation with AANE’s own Nicki Gallop as they discuss the intersection of autism and gender identity.

SPEAKER BIOS:

Dr. Meredith Maroney, PhD (she/her/hers) is an Assistant Professor of Counselling Psychology at the University of Calgary and a Licensed Psychologist. She received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Boston and completed her doctoral internship at the University at Albany’s Counseling and Psychological Services. Her research and clinical interests are in the areas of sexual orientation, gender diversity, autism, and intervention development.

Nicki Gallop (she/they) is the Adult Services Facilitation Specialist at AANE and a published author specializing in helping young autistic adults. In this capacity, she has worked with autistic individuals, parents, and universities. She has published two articles, one of which explores the intersection of gender identity and autism, the other of which explores healthy relationships between autistic individuals. Nicki is also an artist and musician.
