AANE Webinar: Parenting without Power II: Why it’s not Easy
June 11 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm, $25.00
WHEN: Tuesday June 11, 2019
TIME: 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM (EST)
HOST: AANE Staff with Michele Cantara
WHAT: In this latest webinar, Michele Cantara, Co-Director of AANE Adult Services, and her colleague “Ned” a young adult on the spectrum explore the parent/adult child relationship from both perspectives. They share a candid discussion about why it’s not easy to be a parent and why it’s not easy to be an adult child with autism. In Michele’s highly popular first webinar – Parenting without Power: 10 Principles for Parents of Adult Children with Aspergers and Related Profiles, she discussed ways to reframe the way you interact with your adult child.
Michele is the parent of a young man with Asperger’s who is moving forward to reach his life goals. At AANE she coaches parents and hosts parents of adult support groups. Previously, Michele spent 35 years in high technology and management consulting. This webinar combines her insights into organizational change management and transformation with the real-life challenges of parenting an adult on the spectrum. She provides pragmatic advice for parents who have tried “tough love” and then realize that parenting with power often backfires. “Ned” is an alias for Michele’s colleague, who is a 25-year-old young man, who doesn’t want to disclose to everyone in the YouTube universe, that he is on the spectrum.
