Moving From a Pediatrician to an Adult Provider – How to Find and Talk to a Doctor

DESCRIPTION: Dr. Costello will discuss the health care aspects of moving from a pediatrician to an adult provider, this includes such topics as how to:
- choose the right provider – questions to ask, determine a good fit for you
- introduce yourself and explain how to make a visit comfortable for you
- communicate if you are feeling uncomfortable physically or emotionally
- develop a speech so that you can briefly describe yourself
Eileen Costello, MD, Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Boston University School of Medicine, currently serves as the Chief of Ambulatory Pediatrics at Boston Medical Center (BMC). Dr. Costello’s clinical interests include the care of children and adolescents with developmental disabilities, including autism, and children with mental health disorders. Also an author, Costello’s well-known book, Quirky Kids: Understanding and Helping Your Child Who Doesn’t Fit In, highlights her creative and innovative approaches to both clinical care and specifically to children with
