Evaluation of educational materials among 9th graders with Autism

Purpose: To understand how different children interact with a variety of accessible educational materials originally developed for students with low vision.

Description: 9th grade students with autism or other special needs will go to Mad*Pow’s location in Boston to look at and provide feedback about text, graphic, 3D and other materials. Parents will be asked to stay with their child for the duration of the study. The session will take an hour.

Dates:  October 15-19, 22, 23 and 26, 2018.

Compensation: A $125 American Express gift card will be offered.

INCLUSION CRITERIA:
Students must be in 9th grade.
Students must have completed 8th grade math.
Students should be able to speak in full sentences and be able to understand what you’re saying and follow simple directions.
Students should participate in regular state and district assessments with our without accommodations.

EXCLUSION CRITERIA:
Students participate in alternate assessments.
Students may not have low vision or blindness, physical disabilities or motor dysfunction, hearing impairment or other mental or neurologic disorder.
