Chinese American Parents’ Perspectives on ASD Education

Research Study

The study aims to investigate the attitudes and comments of Chinese American parents towards the cultural Sensitivity of the intervention methods and educational materials that their children with autism received. It also analyzes the experiences of Chinese American parents over stereotypes and stigma in Chinese culture related to autism.

We are currently looking for participants who were born in China and have a child between 3 to 17 years old with a diagnosis of autism spectrum/Asperger’s syndrome. The child can be born in either US or China. Parents will need to complete the screening questionnaire online. During the interview, participants will make verbal consent to participate and get audio recorded. The interview will take about 30 to 60 minutes and it will be conducted through Zoom meeting.

The participation is completely voluntary, and all responses will be kept confidential. All participants will receive a $20 Amazon gift card as compensation for their time after they complete their participation of the study.
