ASD Disclosure in the Workplace

Research Study

A popular explanation for these employment outcomes for autistic adults, including high unemployment and under-employment rates, is that unique challenges associated with social interaction and communication make it difficult to navigate the social environment in the workplace. Research suggests there may be benefits from disclosing one’s disability to one’s employer. However, we need to know more about how disclosure (and different types of disclosure) relates to employment outcomes, especially for ASD. Our study has two phases. Phase 1 involves a single online survey of adults with ASD ($20 Amazon gift card will be provided upon completion). After completing phase 1, participants can sign up for phase 2, which involves a set of weekly surveys sent to volunteers who are either employed or seeking employment (a $100 Amazon gift card will be provided every month of participation).
