A Message from Dania Jekel, Executive Director
Dear Community,
It is with mixed emotions that I am announcing my retirement from the Asperger/Autism Network at the end of October of this year. I will be 70 years old, and after 25 years at the helm of AANE, I feel it is time to pass the baton to the next generation. I am proud that AANE is a strong and thriving organization today, which provides the highest quality support and service. We embody the values of inclusion, respect, and integrity in all our programs and interactions, which is a testament to the quality and dedication of the staff.
I am pleased to report that the AANE Board will announce its selection of a new Executive Director on March 3rd. I will be fully involved in the organization through October to ensure a smooth and seamless transition.
AANE was built in partnership with many people: staff, board and committee members, adults, families, and professionals. Over the next eight months, I hope to have time to say goodbye to as many of you as possible. Your assistance has helped AANE grow from a "one-person, part time, desk and telephone" to the thriving organization it is today. Thank you for your support and friendship.
My Best,
Dania Jekel
