As an independent, non-profit organization, AANE relies on the help of its community. Our current success can be attributed to the generous gifts and active involvement of our community members. Your contributions allow us to provide many of our services free of charge and to maintain affordable fees for our conferences and seminars. We at AANE thank you for your help. We truly could not do it without you!
Unlike many other autism services, we are not a state-funded organization. In fact, 70% of our funding comes from private donations.
We offer many of our services at no cost, such as the help line, support groups, and social groups for adults with AS. Your donations allow us to keep these services free of charge.
These are some ways in which you can help us:
AANE would like to acknowledge & thank some very special people and companies who have made extra special contributions to us.
Become a member of AANE and renew your membership annually. Members receive special benefits, such as receiving the semi-annual AANE Journal and access to our in-person and online support groups.
Hosting a fundraising event for AANE is a great way to have fun, network, and make a difference in the organization. Please see the guide to planning an event for AANE (1MB PDF) for suggestions and guidelines.
Every year in the early Spring, AANE puts on a big event for our members and supporters. This gala dinner is usually held at the Newton Marriott hotel and is accompanied by a charity auction to help fund our year-long commitment to service and support. We depend on the generous support of our sponsors, merchandise donors, and of course our guests to make these events possible. We thank everyone who has participated in our previous gala events, and we hope to see you when the next one rolls around!
AANE has a number of marketing and advertising opportunities for a target audience of parents of children and teens with AS, professionals and teachers who work with individuals with AS, and adults with AS.
If you are shopping for Asperger-related items, please consider purchasing one of these suggested items. AANE will receive a percentage or set amount for each item you purchase.
We rely on volunteers to help run the organization at all levels.
Do you know an educator who has made a real difference in the life of someone with Asperger’s Syndrome? What about a teenager with AS who has met his or her academic, social or emotional challenges with courage, dignity and maturity? Honor this devoted professional or hard-working teen by nominating him or her for either the A-Plus Educator's Award or the Dandurand Award for Teens. Your nomination helps us recognize those whose hard work truly contributes to our mission.
You can view past award winners of the Educator Awards from 2006 through 2010.
AANE supports several research studies that will add to the body of knowledge about AS. If you have AS or have a relative with AS, you may be eligible to participate. Participation is typically brief and enjoyable, and you can feel good about making your voice heard and contributing to the growing body of AS research.
These studies are not carried out by AANE, but we have compiled a list of ongoing studies you may wish to participate in. All studies listed have been approved by the relevant institution’s Research Ethics Board.
The mission of AANE includes advocating for appropriate quality services for individuals with AS across the age spectrum and lobbying for funding at the local, state, and national levels.
