LifeMAP – Life Management Coach

General Description:

The Life Management Assistance Program (LifeMAP) coach will provide practical assistance to adults diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome or related conditions who are NOT eligible for DDS services. This assistance will take the form of intensive, highly individualized coaching with a focus on identifying and overcoming the specific barriers each client is facing. The goal of the LifeMAP coach will ultimately be to empower their clients and increase their level of independence. We are looking for coaches located all over Massachusetts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide intensive, individualized assistance to adults diagnosed with AS or related conditions up to four hours per week
  • Meet with clients in their homes, communities or at the AANE main office
  • Creating goal specific contracts to guide the work being done
  • Administer pre-tests to determine baseline skills
  • Re-evaluate at regular intervals to assess clients’ progress
  • Administer post-tests at completion of work agreed upon in contract
  • Record status / progress of clients tasks regularly
  • Help clients expand their support networks
  • Communicate with clients’ existing support networks
  • Attend personal monthly supervision meetings with LifeMAP Program Manager

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a coaching or mentor role preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies
  • Proven leadership, team-building, organizational and project management skills
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and database applications preferred

Education / Personal Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelors Degree in related field
  • Knowledge of Asperger’s Syndrome in adults with the desire to learn more (life experience would be a bonus)
