Yoga and Meditation for Women

Practicing mindful breathing and movement can be helpful to reduce stress, improve physical and mental flexibility, and gain a feeling of connectedness. In this workshop, a member of our adult community will share how she has benefited from yoga and meditation. The group will then explore gentle movement and two short meditations. Women who have never tried yoga or meditation or feel that they aren’t successful at it are especially welcome. This will be an opportunity to explore these practices in a non-judgmental space where we are allowed to talk about what is challenging.
What should I bring?
– A towel or yoga mat (or you can practice in a chair, which we will provide);
– Wear something modest and comfortable such as jogging pants and a t-shirt. It’s best to dress in layers, so a sweater or blanket can be helpful;
– A water bottle that won’t spill if you knock it over;
– A willingness to be open minded and learn something new!
About the Instructor:
Karen Lean trained as a yoga teacher at Kripalu Center in 2008. She has taught yoga in Toronto and in Boston. She currently meditates and practices gentle yoga every day, often in the company of a cat.
