28403

Kerry uses an eclectic approach to treatment but believes that any treatment involving young people should include the following:

  • Treatment should include the people who are important in the child’s life, especially parents.
  • Treatment should be individualized to the child’s age, developmental level, learning style, and family needs.
  • Treatment should focus on helping the child learn effective coping techniques to more positively face life challenges.

The PSC will begin providing learning disabilities assessments for UMass students, and others, who require an assessment to determine eligibility for academic accommodations.  This team will be staffed by Doctoral students from the College of Education School Psychology program.  Dr. Sara Whitcomb, Dr. Claudia Rutherford, and Dr. Christopher Martell will work together in supervising these assessments.  We are excited to offer this additional service to the University and the community as well as welcoming further collaboration in the PSC with the College of Education.  It is our sincere hope that this will also help with the efficiency of the assessment process.

Why Choose Neurodevelopment Associates?

Because we believe that You are the expert on your child. Because your child needs you to succeed. Because we make sure your voice is heard.

We have a different focus, and a different mission, from most other clinics and practices. We believe a skilled evaluation and the right recommendations are just the start. You also need the follow-up services, such as going to school meetings and observing current or proposed programs. The best report by itself may not have the impact on your child’s success that you want.

Working with you, we ensure that the programs and services your child receives are the ones he or she needs to make effective progress.  Our goal is to provide the expert help and support you need to meet your most important parenting goal–making sure your child succeeds in school and in life. We make school work for your child.

Diagnosis and Evaluation

Our primary mission is to advance scientific knowledge about the language and social communication impairments in autism/ASD and related disorders. We carry out studies on all ages using behavioral, brain, and cognitive measures. The goal is to understand the range of abilities, the developmental patterns, and the brain systems that may explain why people with autism have difficulties communicating with spoken language. Our research is aimed at developing new interventions that directly address the communication problems that we discover.
